Lighthouse Life Skills Programs

Our Lighthouse Life Skills program is a fundamental piece of our strategy for success – changing lives and eternity for youth! The Lighthouse Life Skills curriculum allows us to teach practical skills interwoven with Christian application. They learn about how to live and eat healthfully, while also learning how to nurture their spiritual health, through daily devotions, prayer, etc. They learn proper etiquette to help them succeed in the business world, but also learn that we should be polite and courteous out of love for God and His command to love our neighbor.

Bible Study

During the school year, students learn Bible History from both the Old and New Testaments. These lessons are made applicable to today’s teens and their needs. In addition special weekend bible class opportunities are available throughout the year.

Daily devotions

On Fridays, students focus on thematic units relating to God’s Word including topics Very Important Passages (VIP), Prayer, Proverbs, Psalms, Names of Jesus, and Christian Identity.

Caring, Christ-centered staff and volunteers

Lighthouse Youth Center has an 8:1 student to adult ratio. The staff and volunteers focus on building relationships with the students and in the process are mentors.

Entertainment on Big Screen TVs

Students are invited to stay after the program and watch a movie or play games while enjoying snacks.

Classes on computers, art, culture

During the summer each week is dedicated to a different type of program. Students have learned how to Be Wise with Money, dance and do art projects, learned the history of Milwaukee, and learned about the legal system among other topics.

Homework Club

Students are required to bring homework to our campus every Monday through Thursday during the school year. For forty-five minutes they have mandated time to complete homework and other projects and staff and volunteers are available to assist.

Computer lab

Each location has at least six computers which students can use to complete homework and use during free time.

Service Projects

Students are involved in numerous service projects throughout the year. These projects allow our youth to develop as servant leaders and have an opportunity to improve the communities they live in.

Job Preparedness and Partnerships

We offer monthly job tours of area businesses for youth to begin to see the opportunities available to them, identify a path to get there and start dreaming about their future. Job shadowing opportunities and workshops on critical topics, including: how to get a job, resume writing, interview practice, personal financial management and personal & business etiquette

Finance Classes

Our youth learn the components to managing money and also recognize, money is a gift given by God for them to manage.

Reward Trips

To reward our youth who regularly attend programming and are diligent in their school work students are able to earn the opportunity to go on monthly reward trips during the school year.
